The Great Pizza Count Down in Curacao


If you're visiting Curacao and want Insider information on the best pizza on the island, you're in for a treat.

We have listed three of our favorite pizzeria's on the island where you can't go wrong. We are by no means the experts, but we do LOVE GOOD FOOD, so here's hoping we will do you proud.

The Great Pizza Count Down Starts!


Bistro E Lanternu

Not really a pizzeria, but definitely making our Pizza SmackDown list are the pizzas from Bistro E Lanternu. Located in a former bakery, Brian the owner of E Lanternu, cooks excellent pizzas in the old bakery's oven.

Conveniently located at a driving distance of only 15 minutes from Villa Seashell, we go for pizza to E Lanternu quite often.

We like all of Brian's pizza very much, but we have one remark. Brian only cooks with ingredients he likes himself, and he does not like olives and refuses to keep them in stock. Therefore if you are going to have pizza at E Lanternu and like to have olives on your pizza, you have to take them with you yourself, and then Brian is more than happy to make you a pizza with olives :). Also for take out! Bistro E Lanternu rounds out our number 3 on our Pizza count down list.

IL FORNO

This is a well known Italian style pizzeria on Curacao, with 3 restaurants in Mahaai, Caracasbaaiweg, and Gomz Plein (Punda).

The founders are originally from Montpellier, France, where they used to work at a Sicilian pizzeria, producing thin European crusts in the restaurant's wood fired oven.

The fusion of the authentic flavors of the original Italian recipes from the Sicilian pizzeria with the Dutch Gouda cheese and the indistinct tomato sauce make Il Forno's pizzas a surprisingly delightful bite. Made fresh when ordered in a wood burning, we rate Il Forno number 2 on our list!

TOMATOES

The beautiful location at Piscadera Bay makes Tomatoes a unique place to eat pizza at the beach.

Excellent Italian style, thin base, pizzas like we used to get them in Italy many years ago. Cooked in a wood fired oven. Plenty of choices - or ask for your own combination of ingredients. The Pizzas are delicious, the thin base being just crispy at the edges and still just soft under the ingredients, all the toppings are just cooked 'al dente'. It is such a taste treat that will come back for it.

Our favorite is the Hawaiian pizza, but we have heard the Frutti de Mare is excellent too. Prices are very reasonable.
