Because of the water temperature there are many big fish in the waters of Curacao that remain in the area throughout the year.
Deep sea fishing is the best option for catching big fish in Curacao. The ocean is very deep just a short distance off the coast, so even relatively close to shore anglers will find such catches as amberjack, barracuda, blackfin, blue marlin, bluefin, bonito, kingfish, sailfish, shark, wahoo, white marlin, and yellowfin tuna. When staying at Villa Seashell you will see fisherman passing by in their boats on a daily basis. Most of them come from the west side. They enter the sea either at Daaibooibaai beach, which is just beside Coral Estate or at Santa Martha Bay, which is a little more west. Many local fishermen will gladly take you along to go fishing. Of course, they fish the local way, which is "bottom fishing" with just a fishing line and some bait. Unlike rod fishing where the required bait is affixed to a hook at the end of the line, in "Bottom Fishing", weights are attached to the end of the line and that weight enables the bait to the bottom of the water which helps to lure fish.

Dirk can take you on what he calls a "little" Big Game Fishing. He takes 1 or 2 persons on a personalized fishing trip starting in San Juan, or he will pick you up at Daaibooibaai.
